Thomas Paine's book, Common Sense, was fundamental in the patriot's cause, as it rallied the Colonists to take arms against England. Published in January of 1776, there were about 120,000 copies in circulation in the first three months. By the end of the revolution, it had sold more than 500,000 copies. Illegal to read at the time, many colonists would read the 47 page pamphlet then promptly throw it away. There are less than a dozen of the first printing left in the world.
Brown Hardcover with gold tooling around the entire front cover. Pocket sized. A fine copy.
