A colourful pair of Antique Victorian insect pins from the turn of the 20th Century. Both are fashioned in 18ct Yellow Gold and connected by a long chain.
Insect jewellery became popular at the turn of the 20th Century due to a renewed love of the natural world following the vast urbanisation of the country and were often decorated with colourful gemstones to enhance their beauty and value.
Both insects are claw set with lovely cabochon Moonstone abdomens (approx. 1.50ct each) and a natural Ruby and Sapphire dotted in the centre (approx. 0.10ct each).
